we all work here
nobody really lives here
we shape the future all day long
then scurry home to various different disneylands
places we spend the foolish money they throw at us
proving with our real lives that we are not nerds
middle class suburbs, stolen, shoving aside,
with walls of cash, teachers and auto mechanics
hipster paradise, little neighborhoods with cheap rent
and vanishing populations of immigrants
isolated mountain retreats
just inside the radius of a convenient commute
hoping nobody will notice, it is only when we are back at work
that we feel really alive
