it is hard to write like a human being
i can produce page after page
about the various little "we"s
that i belong to,
what we laugh at
why we matter
when "we" means everyone and
i am just a human being
with no quirky crew backing me up
without someone who isn't us
who won't get the joke
nothing is funny any more
which leaves me lament,
admittedly an abundant
landscape of haunting imagery
i just wonder why
the only thing i know
how to do with you
is cry
